COVID-19 Infection Ages Women's Blood Vessels
In this lecture, Dr. Been discusses a recent study with groundbreaking but not unexpected evidence of blood vessel age acceleration due to spike protein interaction with the endothelial ACE2 enzymes. In summary women infected by COVID can have their blood vessels aged by 5 years to 10 years. This effect was not observed in men.
A good news is that a year later the aging seemed to be either stable or reduced. This may mean that there is recovery from this aging that occurs.
