Toronto Sun column: Allison Inquiry must now lead to resignations and a full public inquiry
Irvin Studin | Sept. 17, 2026
Irvin Studin’s column does not treat last week’s Allison Inquiry as one more hearing to archive. He treats it as the moment Canada ran out of excuses.
He writes that even sane countries can lose their minds in an emergency. The inquiry, he says, showed in full colour what a growing number of people already know: the COVID-19 vaccine program, launched at the height of pandemic panic, injured tens of thousands of ordinary Canadians and killed thousands more. The witnesses were not case numbers. They came from every region and every kind of life. Many were healthy and working - some elite athletes - before the shot. They are neighbours, friends, and, in Studin’s own family, kin. The campaign that reached them was mass, multi-dose, and backed by persuasion that often became compulsion.
“We have witnessed the biggest health policy mistake in Canadian history at best, or a crime against humanity at worst.”
They cannot “move on”
Studin refuses the tidy line that the damage is done and the country should turn the page. Too many people cannot. They are injured. Loved ones are dead. Others live with fear of what the products may still do. A country that still calls itself honest, he argues, does not walk past that.
In the fog of the emergency, Ottawa approved foreign mRNA products that had not been thoroughly tested here, by Canadians, for Canadians - then pushed them nationwide as if they were unquestionably “safe and effective.” Even after first-dose injuries were obvious, second and third doses were still given to the same people.
“Only maniacs do that! And we, my fellow Canadians, were in a right state of mania!”
Not only personal stories
The four days in Ottawa were not only first-person injury accounts. They also included sworn expert and data presentations that tried to put a scale on what the personal stories describe.
Physicist Denis Rancourt walked the inquiry through official mortality files from Statistics Canada and the U.S. CDC. He argued that excess deaths rose after rollout in groups that had been relatively quiet in 2020 — including patterns he presented for pregnant women, infants about nine months later, young children, and cancer deaths.
Biostatistician Jessica Rose presented U.S. V-safe data obtained by FOIA and VAERS analyses. She told the inquiry that hundreds of thousands of V-safe reports involved medical care, that passive systems are heavily under-reported, and that death and disability signals appeared early.
Researcher Deanna McLeod used Ontario hospital and OHIP billing records covering about 16 million people. She showed post-rollout jumps in hospital codes for myocarditis and a rise in pulmonary-embolism care — records she argued are harder to dismiss than a voluntary adverse-event form.
Those sessions sit beside the injured witnesses. Together they are why Studin says the record is no longer something a serious country can file and forget.
Stop. Resign. Investigate. Inquire.
His demands are blunt. All remaining COVID-19 mRNA vaccination in Canada should stop now. Institutions still tying shots to work, school, travel, or membership should be forced to stop. He repeats his 2021 call for Ontario’s then chief medical officer of health, Kieran Moore, to resign after myocarditis risk in young males was known - and extends that call to every remaining medical officer of health who kept the campaign going after injuries and deaths were visible.
He reaches back to the tainted-blood scandal and the Krever Commission. If that catastrophe produced investigations and nearly brought down a government, this one - larger in the number of lives wrecked - deserves at least the same urgency.
The questions he says a real reckoning must answer are the ones the injured have been asking for years: Who approved these products without proper Canadian testing? What was known about injury and death? Why were the risks not stated plainly? Why were the products not pulled when harm became clear? Why were healthy people - including the young and pregnant women - forced to take them to keep basic parts of civic life?
“What’s to be done? Answer: Resignations, arrests and a full public inquiry called by the Prime Minister. Now.”
The current Prime Minister did not create the catastrophe, Studin writes. It is still his historic duty to face it.
That is the argument. The feeling in the column is not extra colour. It is the point. The injured and the bereaved already told their truth in Ottawa. Pretending is finished.
Watch the record yourself
The official home for witness lists and context is allisoninquiry.com. The hearings are on the inquiry’s YouTube channel: youtube.com/@AllisonInquiry/videos. Start at the site, then watch on the official channel so you are not depending on clipped third-party edits.
If you only have time for sessions that are not personal injury narratives, these three are the clearest window on the data side of the hearings:
· Denis Rancourt, Day 1 — official mortality and excess-death patterns
· Dr. Jessica Rose, Day 2 — V-safe, VAERS, and under-reporting
· Deanna McLeod, Day 4 follow-up — Ontario hospital and billing data
The injured witnesses are on the same channel if you choose to hear them. The point of pointing to the experts first is only this: the inquiry was bigger than grief. The numbers were on the table too.
The hearing is over. The telling isn't.
Four days of sworn testimony sat on Parliament Hill. Most Canadians never saw them. National coverage was thin, late, or framed as an unofficial listening exercise rather than a record of injured people and the data presented beside them. An inquiry only changes what a country does next if the country hears it. That is why the videos matter. The testimonies and the expert sessions are not only for people already in this community. They are the public file. Share them past the usual circles so the next emergency is not run as if this one never happened.
