Joan Green

What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?

Perfectly healthy, jogged, danced, sang daily. Living a great retired life. Very active with family and friends. Was able to work on house updating.

Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.

Had blood and urine tests 2 days before J&J covid vaccine as part of routine physical. Tests results were all normal. 14 days after vaccine I could not stand or walk without falling. Went to emergency hospital, spinal tap confirmed Guillain-Barre. Within a day I was completely paralyzed. Respiratory failure, Afib, was in ICU on a ventilator for 9 days. Ivig and plasma infused while in ICU. Remained in hospital for acute care and physical therapy for 6 weeks until family could care for me at home. Family had to use a sling lift to move me from bed to wheelchair. Family did everything for me for 6 months until I could start moving and grooming on my own. Today, 20 months later, I wear legs braces and a cane to walk. The pain is non-stop. Head to toe. Paralysis comes and goes from head to toe. Everyday I am miserable, my life is changed forever. I hate myself for taking the vaccine.

Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms

Physical therapy, acupuncture, B vitamins, deep tissue Swedish massage. Pain medication but not muscle relaxers or gabapentin.

Which solutions were not helpful?

Muscle relaxers, steroids and gabapentin. They caused tiredness and mental disturbances. Held me back for healing and regaining strength.

What would you like others to know?

Vitamins, nutrition and healthy habits should be provided and encouraged rather than a vaccine for every illness. The human body can not withstand the numerous and various vaccines. I have never vaccinated my cats. My cats are still alive 22 years old. The average age of a vaccinated cat is 12 years. Think about it.
