What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?

I was a very active mom who never missed a practice or game for my two boys. I worked full time and enjoyed working where I am. My work then required the vaccine. I had a ton of testing done prior to receiving the vaccine to make sure my past medical history was clear as to not affect me. I was cleared as healthy and was told by my primary and cardiologist I should have only Pfizer vaccine.

Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.

The first dose I was very Sick for for 3 to 4 days.

The second dose I received at 3pm on 9-8-2021. By 12:30 am 9-9-2021 I had woken up to severe visual problems. I was seeing very bright colors as if I had stared at the sun too long. I was seeing tracers behind things as I moved. It was incredible difficult to see up close. I called my on call doctor who told me to go to the ER. Once at the ER the doctor at the hospital I work for said it was a rare serious side effect of the Pfizer vaccine and I would get my vision back to normal in about 72 hours. My vision went somewhat back to normal by the next day but saw hot pink and bright green everywhere. After two weeks of back and forth with workmans comp they found my vision was a side effect of fluid on my brain known as IIH or pseudo tumor cerebri. Workmans comp backed out and I was left paying for MRIs and spinal taps. My body can no longer maintain certain vitamins and I’m on diuretics. Some days I can’t get out of bed and have lost some hearing as well. I now wear hearing aids and get migraines daily. I can’t be out in the sun watching baseball or football games anymore. I throw up often and live as if I have a brain tumor. My memory is terrible now and my kids say things like I’m “just there now, not really part of the family cause I’m so sick, but just there”. I’m dizzy all the time and am no longer the wife mother or person I once was.

Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms

I manage the symptoms with diuretics, anxiety medication, vitamin supplements, and hearing aids .

Which solutions were not helpful?

Doctors aren’t helpful! It seems like they are scared to say anything bad about the vaccine. I’ve been turned away by neurologist and made to feel stupid and unworthy of actual care. I’m still searching for a permanent solution.

What would you like others to know?

I want others to know they are not alone. I believe them. I work in audiology and I hear at least 3 patients a day say they have tinnitus since the vaccine. I know there are side effects. I know it feels like no one is listening. I know the feeling of choosing to support your family and being forced to get the vaccine or be jobless with family that depends on you for income. I know how your employer can treat you when you physically can’t get out of bed. I know how terrible FMLA and short term disability is and how awful they treat you as if you just want to get paid to do nothing. I KNOW!
