What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?

As a Federal employee with DHS/FEMA, we were highly encourage/pressured to take the vaccine. While deployed in April 2021 to assist with the vaccine centers I took the J&J vaccine on April 3, 2021. Within 4 days the left eye became red, streaked. It was as if a dark curtain had fallen over half of the vision area. An appointment was made with an ophthalmologist for April 12th, 2021, and retinal detachment was diagnosed. The following day met with a retina surgeon and surgery was scheduled for April 15th, 2021.


Even though I have had vision issues most of my life, including cataract surgery, I had a vision check-up less than three weeks before taking the vaccine and the retina was attached and the vitreous was clear.


From April 2021 to December 2021 four surgeries were performed including injecting silicone oil twice. The silicone oil is still in the eye and probably will be the rest of my life.
At times there has also been brain fog. I am not sure if it from the vaccine itself or the trauma as a result of the retinal detachment issues.


This has turned my life upside down (as I am sure it has with many many others) and am still under a retina specialist care. Financial and emotional recovery continues due to the medical bills incurred and not working for many months. Physically my life will never be the same because the physical limitations that have been in place for four years.
