Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.
"Healthy 55yo male with no history of medical concerns other than a surgical procedure in 2005 to repair broken leg from an accident. My exercise routine included daily cardio workouts on treadmill and rowing machine, light weight lifting and weekly golf tournaments.
No hx of medical problems, prescription medications, in-/ outpatient care for both physical and mental health concerns, to include diagnoses of depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and depression,
Less than 48 hours after receiving the Pfizer vaccine, I began to experience severe bilateral tingling, numbness, “electrical” shocks and pain in arms, legs, and feet.
It wasn’t until my sxs worsened (Bell’s palsy, blurriness, heart palpitations, untriggered panic attacks) that I went to Union Memorial hospital in Baltimore, MD. I was prescribed steroids and valaciclovir (antiviral medication) and informed that the vaccine most likely did not play a causal role in these sxs.
Bell’s palsy appeared to lessen, however, less than a week later, all symptoms mentioned above resurfaced, but were more severe and included what I believed were stroke-like sxs, blurry vision, extreme anxiety with two severe panic attacks that prevented me from taking care of activities of daily living and days off from work.
I returned to the ED at Union Memorial hospital with the assistance of a friend and hospitalized for 2 nights. Multiple tests (CAT, PET, chest x-rays, blood, urine, MRI, and a spinal fluid extraction) were conducted. Multiple diagnoses were r/o. No dx provided and it was suggested I see an optometrist at the Wilmer Eye Clinic at Johns Hopkins hospital to determine if there was any damage to my cornea. Exam came back negative.
Prescribed non-addictive anti-anxiety medication to be used PRN and to utilize relaxation skills to lessen the fear and anxiety of sxs I have never experienced prior to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
While my sxs have not worsened, I continue to experience numbness, tingling, and pain in my extremities, migraines, blurry vision, fatigue, and fear that more issues may appear in the future considering I have lost some sort of control over my movements.
I am scheduled to see a neurologist in late July 2021.
I am skeptical whether this was reported to the CDC as most of the physicians I’ve seen say it had nothing to do with the vaccine.
I pray these sxs go away and I can live a normal active life like I was doing during my pre-vaccine days.
