What would you like others to know?

I’m a 100% disabled U.S. Air Force combat veteran whose life was destroyed by long-COVID.

For more than four years, I was told my symptoms were anxiety or “all in my head” while my health steadily deteriorated. It took years of suffering before I was finally diagnosed with dysautonomia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).

Instead of receiving help, I experienced medical gaslighting and retaliation that left me labeled a “difficult patient” and even diagnosed with somatic symptom disorder—essentially suggesting my illness was psychological. That label now follows me in my medical record and makes it harder to receive proper care.

My story isn’t unique. Millions suffering from long-COVID and related conditions are being dismissed, ignored, or misdiagnosed by a healthcare system that is not prepared—or unwilling—to confront the scale of this crisis.
