What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?

At 23, I was a Junior Olympic softball player, healthy, fit, and with no prior health issues. I was also a frontline healthcare worker, eager to further my nursing career and help during the pandemic. A week after receiving the COVID vaccine, I experienced a severe reaction, including extreme pain, paralysis in my right arm, and issues with my left leg. I was later diagnosed with bilateral Brachial Plexus Neuritis, CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), and Parsonage-Turner Syndrome. My active, healthy life quickly changed, and my career and athletic dreams were put on hold. Despite this, I continue to advocate for my health and adjust my goals as I heal.

Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.

2020-2024
One week after receiving the COVID vaccine, I developed excruciating nerve pain, weakness, and paralysis in my right arm and left leg. I was diagnosed with Brachial Plexus Neuritis, CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), and Parsonage-Turner Syndrome. My once-active, healthy life quickly changed, and my career and athletic dreams were put on hold. Despite this, I continue to advocate for my health and adjust my goals as I heal.

Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms

IVIG 5 days in a row every 4 weeks, prednisone 40 mg daily , cymbalta 60 mg

UCSF Neurology has taken on my case and reported/confirmed vaccine reaction. I have 3 medical exemptions
