Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.

Entry Date: 6/24/21

I am a recently retired 64 year old father of 4 and am blessed with 6 grandchildren.

I was very healthy and very active playing golf, peloton and more. I had no need for any prescriptions.

I had the J&J vaccine on April 3rd. Eleven days later I started to get headaches and shooting pains across my body. Severe headaches and shooting pains continued for many days. When I woke up on April 25th my face was paralyzed which drove me to go to the hospital ER.

After many tests including a spinal tap, MRI, blood work, EKG, and more they determined I most likely had Guillian Barre Syndrome (GBS) and encephalitis. I stayed in the hospital for 6 days and received IVIG treatment. The goal was to stop my immune system from attacking itself. Two months later I appear to be recovering although I am very weak and fatigue quickly. I am told over time with lots of rest I should gain my strength and back to normal. GBS recovery can take many months to years so time will tell.

At this time I have not been able to exercise, play golf or anything strenuous around the house. I also need to take a nap mid afternoon so I do not get too fatigued and potentially relapse.
