Vaccine Injury of Karen Bozich
What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?
Before the vaccine, I was working as a physical therapist in a hospital 3 days a week which involved a lot of lifting and being on my feet all day. I would walk several miles or do exercise videos 3 days a week, and was able to do laundry, cook, bake, clean, and run multiple errands.
Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.
I received my 2nd Pfizer dose on 1/25/21. On 2/10/21 I began experiencing tachycardia, lightheadedness, dizziness, and fatigue. I saw my pcp and a cardiologist who couldn't find anything wrong. I kept working, but it was a real struggle and I wasn't able to do anything on my days off. On 7/28/21 I went to the ER with chest pain and was sent home with a diagnosis of pleuritic chest pain. On 7/30/21 I returned to the ER with worsening chest pain and was admitted with a diagnosis of pericarditis. I was never able to return to work after that. In November of 2021 I was diagnosed with POTS/dysautonomia. Despite multiple tests, medications, lifestyle changes, and cardiac rehab, I am still very limited physically. On a daily basis I experience fatigue, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, muscle pain, brain fog, and decreased standing and activity tolerance. I'm not able to clean my home or go grocery shopping, and I'm only able to stand 15 minutes at a time most days.
Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms
Lifestyle changes such as pacing activity, making sure I get enough sleep, staying hydrated, and watching what I eat have helped somewhat. Lying down helps the most on bad days.
Which solutions were not helpful?
Compression stockings, beta blocker, ivabradine
What would you like others to know?
Even though I look normal, my life has been significantly limited due to my reaction to the vaccine. I am no longer able to work or keep my house clean and I feel like my husband and 2 children have to pick up the slack for me all the time. I'm not able to do or enjoy my normal exercise or social activities. I never have a day when I feel "good" anymore. A lot of the time, it feels like the blood doesn't always get up to the top of my head, and I forget things and people think what I'm saying doesn't make sense. I feel unproductive, lonely, and bored.
