Vaccine Injury of TAR

What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?

First, of all, I certainly did not have any of the troubling issues I have now. I was very active and considered myself to be very healthy and normal.

Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.

My first symptoms began approximately 10 days to 2 weeks after my second vaccine, in early September 2021. On that day, I noticed that my face felt very clammy all day, at times feeling very cold and wet, and then at times burning very badly. I kept checking myself in the mirror to make sure I had no oils or anything on my face, because it felt like it was wet. Since that day in September 2021, these symptoms have continued and are far worse now. In the beginning, for about one year, until I actually had the covid virus, my pain was primarily in my cheeks and around my mouth. Now, some days it is a very bad burning feeling, almost like I would think a frost-bite might feel like. Other days it feels more cold and wet, and some days it is a horrible combination of both. I also have a strange feeling down the center of my nose, almost like something is crawling on it. I first tried different types of facial creams, cleanser, make-up, etc. to see if something I was using irritated my skin. I tried to rule out any food allergies or intolerances as well. I also smell something very strange, like it is coming from me, but my husband swears he does not smell it. I can only describe the smell as like a heavy chlorine type smell, or maybe like a sour cloth might smell. I smell this around my face and down my neck. When my symptoms first started, I waited a few months before I even told my husband. I thought no one would understand or believe me, since my pain is really not visible. I do have some redness on my cheeks, but not much worse than I normally have. I feared being judged, and I know most people don't understand neuropathy type pain unless they have experienced it. After about 4 months of trying to figure out what was happening and trying to "fix" it myself, I visited with my family practitioner. He did order a brain scan, which he said came back normal. I told him when the symptoms started, and he told me that he was not dismissing any of my thoughts, but there was not enough research to support that my symptoms were vaccine related. He said he hoped in the future there would be. He did refer me to a neurologist for a second brain scan. The neurologist said basically the same thing to me about the research and pretty much changed the subject when I mentioned the vaccine. He did the second scan and encouraged me to take gabapentin, which has not helped me at all. Some of the other suggested medications scare me. He did a nerve punch test. He said it came back normal, but because my symptoms seemed so severe and "strange", he clinically diagnosed me with small fiber nerve syndrome. About a year after getting the second dose of the vaccine, I actually had the covid virus. I had many, many symptoms, but my head hurt so bad I thought I would die, and the pain was concentrated in and around my eyes. After my coughing and some of the other covid symptoms subsided, I went to my optometrist. He said I had inflammation in my eyes because of covid and hoped I would get better with some steroid eye drops. I went back to see him about once a week for too long before he finally referred me to see an ophthalmologist (about 4 months later) who diagnosed me with inflammation and chronic dry eye syndrome. I have been prescribed all those ridiculously expensive eye drops, plus the analogous serum, none of which helped the "dry eye issue" or the terrible burning pain I had in both eyes. I was eventually prescribed sclera lenses, which are protecting my corneas, but of course, do not alleviate any of the ocular surface pain I have on a daily basis. In addition to the facial burning, dry eye/ocular surface pain, I have a slew of other symptoms, including GI issues, insomnia, extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, slight hand tremors, brain fog, and terrible anxiety. I make myself exercise (in moderation now and not nearly as intense as before), even though it's not what I want to do based on how I feel. Some days I can get through it; other days, I do not have the energy to even start. Dealing with the constant burning is physically and emotionally exhausting to me. I go to bed by 7:30 every night, just so I can close my eyes. Sleep is almost impossible now. Reading and TV is a "no no" for me pretty much now, because my eyes and body are so tired after I try to work all day that I'm not subjecting myself to any more eye strain that I have to. I could go on and on; however, after reading some of the horror stories that are here, I am extremely grateful that I have not experienced some of the symptoms that many others have. I am so very sorry for you all. My symptoms have been real, and they have been extremely hard to manage. I still work, and my job entails heavy computer/screen time, and up close typing, reading, proofing, drafting, etc. Every day is hard, and every day I question how much longer can I really do this. Some days when I leave work, I have to remind myself to just breathe when I drive, because I notice that I am not breathing. I imagine that is anxiety. I do not enjoy driving anywhere anymore. I do not enjoy being outside anymore, because the sun hurts my eyes and face, as does the wind. I could go on and on, but I will not. I will add this though. My ophthalmologist has had a gentle , kind ear. He told me in general that he chose not to receive the vaccine, and as a result, the group that he practices with would not let him work in his office or perform services at the hospital where he is affiliated at for approximately 9 months to a year. He said he did not regret his decision. He told me he was listening to me, but he could not report any of what I was telling him. He said "he was not allowed." He said I was not the first to share a story with him. It is very sad that most, if not all, of us trusted the vaccine to take care of us...... and, if the virus itself originated in some lab somewhere as some have suggested, then God help whoever had the recipe. I believe God is in control. Good luck to all of you. Thank you for your stories.

Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms

Nothing medically has helped me yet. I try to stay as calm as possible, but it is hard when I am in almost constant pain. I think it is just by prayer and trusting in God that I have been able to endure the pain and suffering I have experienced thus far. I am not giving up on that.

Which solutions were not helpful?

No prescription medicine.

What would you like others to know?

We must start to tell our stories, even though we live in a censored culture. It is hard to talk about symptoms, like neurological symptoms, because sometimes what you experience on the inside is not visible to others on the outside. We fear being judged "crazy" or as a "complainer." Do not doubt what YOU know you have or are experiencing.....none of us are imaging what has happened after receiving our vaccines and/or after having covid itself, or in some instances, and I know, at least in my situation, having separate long-term, suffering symptoms following each.
