What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?

I had no issues with my vision besides a minor prescription. I was able to do my job independently.

Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.

A couple of days after my 2nd Moderna vaccine shot on September 24, 2021, I started having headaches. The headaches progressively worsened over the next few weeks. On October 19, 2021, the headaches moved to my left eye and I started having double vision. I went to the emergency room that night. That night while waiting I lost vision in my left eye. The emergency room kept me for serval hours running tests. They let me go home the following day. I followed up with an eye doctor a few days later. He had me check into the emergency room stating if I didn’t go, I was going to die if I do not go back. I still had a loss of vision and headaches, and at that point, I was admitted to the hospital. They ran a lot of tests, including CT scans, and MRIs, and took spinal fluid and blood work almost every day. They said that my vision should return after a series of Prednisone medications. I was released and returned to have a Plasma Exchange. I was admitted to the hospital for this for about 11 days. On the initial day of my release, my arms started tingling, my legs wouldn’t work and I wasn’t getting oxygen. This was going on for about 10 minutes. I was rushed to the CT Scan, they thought It was a blood clot. But that was not the cause and they believe it was when they removed the catheter it tickled my heart. I was released the next day. I was referred to another eye specialist, for more tests and a second opinion. The ophthalmologist confirmed my vision is permanently lost.

Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms

There were no solutions. They retried plasma exchange and steroids. I still get headaches.

Which solutions were not helpful?

None of the treatments helped.

What would you like others to know?
