Perfectly healthy 65 year old. Only medication I took was for blood pressure.

Within 7 days of first shot, I developed a droopy eyelid. A week after 2nd shot, I could not chew or swallow and I had double vision. Muscle weakness started within a few weeks. I lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks and eventually lost 50 pounds. After I walked across a room, I was so fatigued I had to sit down.

A pharmacist told me his wife had a similar reaction to the shot and was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. I researched AI conditions and ran across Myasthenia Gravis. I had all the symptoms listed. I sent an email to my GP that I thought I had MG. He immediately referred me to a neurologist who confirmed the diagnosis and started me in prednisone and pyridostigmine. Within hours I could swallow. It was 9 months before I could chew normally. I still take autoimmune drugs, but my only symptom is some fatigue at times.

I was fortunate that I got to an excellent neurologist within a couple of weeks after the major symptoms started. The drugs he prescribed worked with no side effects.

Be proactive when it comes to your medical care. Research, read, and don’t be afraid to message your doctor with concerns you have. Even though I’ve been diagnosed with a chronic lifelong condition, I haven’t let it define me. I make sure I stay active. To help with fatigue, i intersperse more intense activities with sedentary activities and even an occasional nap when needed to “recharge” my muscles.
