What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?

I was a healthy 61 year old without any major medical problems. The pain was life changing.

07/07/22 Went back to doctor with same constant shoulder pain.
08/23/22 Went back to doctor for constant shoulder pain. Given exercises to do.
10/11/22 Received 2nd steroid shot in shoulder for constant pain.
11/28/22 Received prescriptions. Steroid med pack, anti-inflammatory, pain meds, muscle relaxant.
12/06/22 Another round of oral steroids.
02/02/23 Consultation with Orthopedic surgeon. Took x-ray but showed nothing.
02/08/23 Had MRI done at Diagnostic Imaging.
02/23/23 Visit to Orthopedic surgeon for MRI results. MRI showed a tear in rotator cuff tendon and possible bicep tear.
03/01/23 Had surgery to repair rotator cuff and bicep tear.
03/28/23 Starting 38 visits to physical therapy.
12/22/23 Pain is better( 1) and arm movement is back to 90% of normal.
Never had any shoulder issues until I got the Covid-19 vaccine.

Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms

Surgery was the only option that helped with the pain.
1st steroid shot helped for approx. 7 months.

Which solutions were not helpful?

Exercise before surgery just made the pain worse.
Heat/ice did not help with pain.
Pain meds only helped slightly.
Muscle relaxants did not help.
Anti-inflammatories did not help.

What would you like others to know?

If you think you might have a shoulder injury due to vaccine administration, get an MRI as soon as you can. Try to see a doctor that is familiar with SIRVA.
